Yoga is suitable for all ages and all levels of ability. It is an ancient discipline which has its roots in India. It is not religious and certainly not competitive. Each weekly class involves the following:
Limbering exercises: which help free up the joints and warm up the muscles
Asana (postures): both static and dynamic which bring many benefits but in brief aid towards increasing flexibility, stamina and self-awareness of body and breath
Pranayama (breathing exercises): helping to increase lung capacity and regulate the breath
Dharana (mindfulness): increases power of concentration and recognition of deeper aspects of ourselves
Relaxation: assisting in the release of tension, stress and tiredness on a physical, mental and emotional level.
Each class lasts 90 minutes and all you need to bring with you is an open mind and wear something comfortable and non-restrictive. Rama has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and teaching for almost 10 years. These classes are popular so please contact the teacher to check for availability of space.
